Aden - Magic Seas, a Liberian-flagged bulk carrier owned by a Greek company, has completely sunk in the Red Sea following a sophisticated attack by Yemen’s Houthi forces, according to a statement by the group’s military spokesperson.

The vessel was reportedly struck by two explosive-laden boats, five ballistic and cruise missiles, and three drones, causing severe structural damage, onboard fires, and flooding.

Houthi spokesman Yahya Saree claimed the sinking was documented on video and was a response to the ship’s alleged violations of a ban on entering Israeli ports.

The Magic Seas was carrying steel and fertilizer from China to Turkey. All 19 crew members were safely evacuated to Djibouti, with no casualties reported.

This marks the first confirmed sinking of a commercial vessel in the Red Sea since April, reigniting concerns over maritime security and the broader geopolitical fallout from the ongoing conflict in Gaza.
