US Envoy to Syria Urges Peace and Dialogue to Resolve Crisis

U.S. Special Envoy to Syria, Thomas Barak, has emphasized the urgent need for peace and dialogue as the only viable path to resolve the ongoing crisis in Syria, warning that the country stands at a critical crossroads.

In remarks reported by Al-Qahera News Channel on Sunday, Barak called on all factions in Syria to lay down their arms immediately, stating that continued violence by armed groups undermines the authority of the Damascus government and obstructs efforts toward national reconciliation.

Barak's comments come amid a surge in regional and international calls for de-escalation, as Syria continues to grapple with internal divisions, economic collapse, and post-conflict instability.

The U.S. envoy reiterated that achieving peace requires the collective will of all Syrian parties to engage in dialogue over confrontation, and to commit to a political process that reflects the aspirations of the Syrian people.
