Landlord convicted of stabbing Palestinian 6-year-old to death dies in prison

Authorities said Saturday that a landlord who was found guilty of killing a young Palestinian boy by stabbing him and assaulting the boy's mother in Plainfield Township, Illinois, in October 2023, died in prison.
Joseph Czuba, 73, died Thursday while in the custody of the Illinois Department of Corrections, the Will County Sheriff's Office said. His death came fewer than three months after receiving his sentence.
In the incident that murdered 6-year-old Wadee Alfayoumi and gravely wounded his mother, Hanan Shaheen, Czuba was found guilty of one count of first-degree murder, one count of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated violence, and two counts of hate crime. In May, he received a sentence of 53 years in prison.
