UN Envoy to Yemen Concludes Regional Visit to Abu Dhabi and Riyadh, Reaffirms Push for Inclusive Peace

AMMAN — The United Nations Special Envoy for Yemen, Hans Grundberg, has concluded a regional visit to the United Arab Emirates and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, where he held high-level meetings aimed at advancing efforts toward a sustainable and inclusive peace process in Yemen.

In Riyadh, Grundberg met with Yemen’s Foreign Minister Shaya Al-Zindani and Presidential Leadership Council member Abdullah Al-Alimi. Discussions focused on recent developments and the UN’s ongoing efforts to maintain momentum toward dialogue that addresses both national aspirations and regional concerns. He also met with Saudi Ambassador to Yemen, Mohammed Al-Jaber, reaffirming the shared priority of achieving a political solution that reflects the will of the Yemeni people.

In Abu Dhabi, Grundberg was received by Dr. Anwar Gargash, Diplomatic Adviser to the UAE President. 

The UAE reiterated its support for UN-led efforts and emphasized the importance of resolving the Yemeni crisis through political and diplomatic means. Gargash stressed the need to alleviate humanitarian suffering and reaffirmed the UAE’s commitment to the Yemeni people.

Grundberg’s visit comes amid renewed international engagement to revive stalled negotiations and consolidate de-escalation efforts across Yemen. The UN envoy emphasized that inclusive dialogue and regional cooperation remain essential to ending the conflict and building lasting peace.
