Egyptian authorities are gearing up to announce a groundbreaking archaeological find within the Great Pyramid of Khufu, also known as the Pyramid of Cheops, located on the Giza Plateau. 

The discovery, described by officials as “significant and unprecedented,” is expected to be revealed in early 2026 following months of scientific investigation and advanced scanning.

Renowned Egyptologist Dr. Zahi Hawass confirmed that a hidden corridor measuring approximately 30 meters in length has been detected inside the pyramid using non-invasive technologies such as cosmic-ray muon radiography. 

The corridor leads to a sealed stone door, which experts believe may conceal a royal chamber or previously unknown funerary artifacts.

The announcement was previewed during the Sharjah International Book Fair, where Dr. Hawass hinted that the discovery could “rewrite parts of Egypt’s ancient history.” He emphasized that the find may offer new clues about the construction techniques used during the reign of Pharaoh Khufu, who ruled Egypt around 2580–2560 BCE.

A joint team of Egyptian archaeologists and international researchers has been working under the ScanPyramids project, which has previously uncovered voids and anomalies within the pyramid’s structure. This latest revelation is considered one of the most promising leads in decades.

The Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities is expected to hold a press conference at the Giza Plateau to formally unveil the discovery, with global media and academic institutions invited to witness the event.

This announcement comes amid Egypt’s broader efforts to revitalize its tourism sector and showcase its rich cultural heritage to the world.
