French Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot has warned that continued political deadlock and delays in reaching a comprehensive resolution to the conflict in the Gaza Strip are threatening to undermine the prospects for lasting peace. He stressed the urgent need to chart a clear path for the post-war phase.

In an official statement released by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Barrot stated:
“We cannot afford to wait any longer, as the passage of time undermines the prospects for peace. It is unrealistic to hope, after 22 months of failed attempts to secure a lasting ceasefire, that we can achieve this without a shared vision for the post-war future of Gaza, without a defined political horizon, and without an alternative to the current state of perpetual war.”

Barrot reaffirmed France’s call for renewed diplomatic efforts to shape a comprehensive political solution that would put an end to the violence, ensure the security of all parties, and lay the foundations for a just and lasting peace in the region.

This statement comes as international calls intensify to end military operations in Gaza, amid worsening humanitarian conditions and the absence of a credible political roadmap to steer the region away from ongoing conflict.

The French Foreign Ministry emphasized that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a negotiated political solution that addresses the aspirations of both Palestinians and Israelis, based on international law and relevant United Nations resolutions.
