Iran says any future talks with U.S. won’t be the same after 12-day war

Iran said on Monday it would hold the United States accountable for attacks on its nuclear sites in any future negotiations, while any potential talks would differ from those held prior to the 12-day war, according to IRNA news agency.

“Any future interactions and negotiations – if the conditions are met – will certainly be different from the situation before June 13 when Israel waged its war of aggression on Iran, which the United States also joined,” foreign ministry spokesman Esmaeil Baqaei told a press briefing.

“The issue of holding the United States accountable and demanding compensation for committing military aggression against Iran’s peaceful nuclear facilities will be one of the topics on the agenda,” he added.

In mid-June, the Zionist entity launched an unprecedented attack targeting Iranian nuclear and military sites, but also hitting residential areas over 12 days of war, which US forces joined with attacks on nuclear facilities at Fordo, Isfahan and Natanz.

Washington has dismissed Tehran’s call for compensation as “ridiculous,” according to AFP.

Baqaei added that Iran was committed to the nuclear non-proliferation treaty, but criticized what he described as the “politicized and unprofessional approach” of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA). Meanwhile, he noted that the deputy director general of the IAEA will travel to Iran in the coming days.

“Authorities have always emphasized that the issue of enrichment in Iran, as an integral part of the rights of the Islamic Republic under the NPT, is of great importance,” Baqaei said, adding that “any proposal that can ensure and guarantee this important component will be open for consideration.”
